Systematic Theology Week 26 – Hamartiology Part 3

This week, as we continued exploring what the Bible has to say about human sinfulness, we focused in on 1John 2:16, which reads, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”

For some time now I have wanted to tell how blessed I have been sitting under your Sovereign Grace Reformed teaching. I have downloaded just about everything that you have on the Internet. I have been particularly blessed by the Systematic Theology lessons each week and, in fact, felt such a sense of longing as I had to wait for Week 26 due to a computer hiccup. I am a 66 year young Christian man, living in Cape Town, South Africa. During the late 70’s I spent 3 years in Greenville, SC studying for the ministry in an unfortunately Arminian environment. For years (probably all of the 1980’s & 1990’s) I was a miserable Christian, trying to live by my own strengths and power. I fell back into the world in despair until coming into the truth of the doctrines of Calvin and the reformed truth of Scripture. Perhaps my last 30 years was spent in delusion and fake conversion but I am happy to tell you that the past 6 years have been liberating, victorious and glorious as I serve our Saviour in a God-centered, Christo-centric way. Just a quick note in closing. I feel I am part of your congregation as I listen to those precious Southern accents of your beautiful people; voices and attitudes I last heard during the 1970’s. Perhaps grace may be given to me to physically visit your fellowship before the Lord calls me home. Very grateful to you and your God-ordained ministry. I continue to pray fervently for the work there.
